There are more than 26 billion chickens living in the world at any given time. That's about 3.5 chickens for every man, woman and child currently walking the planet.

But Australians edge out Americans to hold the title of highest chicken meat consumption per person. In a given year, Aussies eat 205 pounds of chicken wings, fingers and nuggets to the Yank's 201 pounds.

This makes sense since a single hen lays over 300 eggs per year and Americans alone eat over 8 billion chickens per year – creating a strong demand for chicken production.
