Fun Facts About NBA Teams
- Chicago Bulls: The team was unstoppable during the 1995–96 season. Led by Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, they became the first team to win 70+ games (72 in the regular season, 87 including playoffs), before winning the NBA Championship.
- Boston Celtics: They hold the record for the most NBA Championships with 18 titles, and are one of only two original franchises that have never relocated cities. That other franchise is the New York Knicks.
- Los Angeles Lakers: The team holds the longest winning streak in NBA history at 33 games during their legendary 1971–72 season.
- Toronto Raptors: Dinosaurs were a big 1990's trend, mostly due to the success of Jurassic Park (1993). After a team-naming contest held nationwide in Canada, the name "Raptors" won out, beating other finalists like Grizzlies, Dragons, and Bobcats.
- Utah Jazz: The name "Jazz" comes from their original home in New Orleans which is famous for its jazz music. The name stuck even after the team relocated to Utah, which has little jazz history.
- Phoenix Suns: The team has appeared in the NBA Finals three times (1976, 1993, 2021) without winning a championship. This makes them the team with the most Finals berths without a title.
- New York Knicks: The team is one of the league's original eight franchises. They've played in the current Madison Square Garden since 1968, but their last championship was in 1973 — the longest active drought among teams with multiple NBA Championships.
