Did you know?

Historically, there are two men who compete for the title of inventor of the word search puzzle. One man, a Spaniard named Pedro Ocón de Oro, is said to have published his Sopa de Letras (or Soup of letters) sometime in the 1960s. While this claim is not completely verifiable, we do know for certain that Norman E. Gibat first published a word search in the Selenby Digest on March 1, 1968 in Norman, Oklahoma. This makes the word search puzzle just over 60 years old, considerly younger than the equally popular crossword puzzle, which has been around for well over 100 years.
