Type of Game: | written |
What you need: | pen and paper |
Goal
To think of words that begin and end with the same letter.
How to play
The gamemaster thinks of a letter and decides on a time limit, say five minutes. Then, within that time, players write down as many words as they can that begin and end with that chosen letter. For instance, if the letter was T, the list might begin: TRUST, TREAT, TOAST). The player with the longest list of words wins and becomes the next gamemaster. For added difficulty, players write down one word for each letter of the alphabet (e.g., AREA, BULB, COSMETIC...). The player with the longest list, or the first player to think of words for all 26 letters of the alphabet, wins. Extra points can be awarded to players with the longest words for each letter, or for the total number of letters in each player’s list.
Other variations of this word game include Missing Middles, First and Last, and Last to First.
Example
Andi tells the other players they have five minutes to write down as many words as they can that start and end with the letter B.
After some debate regarding acceptable words, Brantley wins with this list of 11 words:
BOMB, BLUB, BLOB, BOOB, BLAB, BULB, BARB, BLURB, BATHTUB, BEACHCOMB, BACKSTAB
