Did you know?

The movie is loosely based on real events in Elmore City, Oklahoma where dancing was banned for almost 90 years due to a local religious ban. Around 1980, the junior class of the local high school petitioned the town to lift the ban for a prom they planned to hold. The ensuing struggle gained media attention and served as the inspiration for the film.

These terms include actor, character, and director names; other people, places, and things encountered in the storyline; themes, ideas, and subject matter handled in the movie — basically, anything that seems reasonable.
