Did you know?
After the director was denied access to the real-life Air Force One, Harrison Ford called the White House to see if he could change their minds. Ford arranged a meeting with White House staff, where he explained he would portray the President in a way that commanded respect and reflected the seriousness of the role and prestige of the aircraft. The meeting was a success and subsequently lead to a tour of the real Air Force One. This allowed the film to be made with greater authenticity. It was especially well-received by then-President Bill Clinton, who saw it twice.
