Did you know?
Kathryn Stockett began writing the novel The Help, which the film is based on, in late 2001. It took her five years to complete. But that was the easy part. Because over the next three years, Stockett received 60 rejections from literary agents who told her the book lacked market appeal and would not resonate with readers. Eventually she found an agent who successfully sold the book to become a major bestseller. Stockett would later sell the film rights to director Tate Taylor, a childhood friend, who then adapted the novel into a screenplay for a movie. That movie was Taylor's The Help and it was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.
These terms include actor, character, and director names; other people, places, and things encountered in the storyline; themes, ideas, and subject matter handled in the movie — basically, anything that seems reasonable.
