  • The Tree of Life in Bahrain is a 400-year-old mesquite tree thriving in the harsh desert with no visible water. This is a mystery that baffles scientists. Its centuries–old survival remains a beautiful enigma of nature and resilience.
  • Bahrain was once known as The Pearl Capital of the World. This ended in the 1930s with the introduction of cultured pearls from Japan, the global Great Depression, and the discovery of oil in Bahrain.
  • In 2019, Bahrain opened "Dive Bahrain", the world's largest underwater theme park, featuring a deliberately sunk Boeing 747, with artificial coral reefs, sculptures, and a replica pearl merchant's house. This was to boost dive tourism and marine life in the country.
  • Bahrain's name translates as "Two Seas" in Arabic, referring to the mysterious sweet-water springs that bubble up from the salty Gulf seabed. This phenomenon baffled people for millennia.
  • Bahrain isn't just one island. It's actually an archipelago of 33 natural islands and many man-made ones which are continuously being built.
