Word Search Puzzle

Here's a word search on the country of Belarus. The puzzle grid hides 20 words and phrasesBison, Brest Fortress, Casinos, Death Penalty, Dump Truck,
Eastern Europe, Forests, Ice Hockey, Lukashenko, Manufacture,
Minsk, Mir Castle, Pork Stew, Programmers, Ruble,
Swampland, White Russian, Wild Horse, Floodplain, Gambling
associated with Belarus. But there's a twist. Only 18 of these 20 words are actually listed. So you're on your own to find the 2 unlisted ones. A full solution is provided if you get stuck.

By the way, we designed this puzzle to be easily read. Both the puzzle grid and word list are in large 17-point font size. And the puzzle grid, which is 22×20 letters, spans the entire width of the page. This way you won't have to squint.

Fun Facts About Belarus

  • Move over people of Ireland and Peru: when it comes to eating potatoes, Belarusians hold the top spot. By most estimates, they average 375 pounds of the starchy tuber per person per year!
  • Belarus is home to Europe's oldest primeval forest. Shared with Poland, Bialowieza Forest is the last remaining part of the immense forest that once stretched across the continent. It's still home to about 900 wild European bison.
  • Belarus boasts over 11,000 lakes, extensive forests and vast marshes, earning it the nickname "the Lungs of Europe" for its oxygen production and biodiversity.
  • During Belarus's "Clapping Revolution of 2011", citizens used clapping as a powerful, quiet form of dissent against their government. So what did the government do? Made it illegal to applaud in public of course! (This was thankfully reversed in 2019.)
  • Tourists will find countless Lenin statues, Soviet-era mosaics, hammer-and-sickle symbols, and even a perfectly preserved KGB headquarters building while walking around Minsk. Sort of a living Soviet time capsule.
