- Lake Chad was once one of the largest lakes in the world, but it has shrunk considerably because of increased water demand for irrigation. However, it's still home to over 120 species of fish and supports millions of people.
- Chad has no coastline but has a strong navy. They patrol Lake Chad with gunboats to fight against the violent extremist group Boko Haram and control smuggling.
- Chad has over 200 distinct ethnic groups and more than 120 languages spoken. French and Arabic are official languages, but local tongues like Sara dominate daily life.
- Chad has one of the youngest populations on Earth. Over 65% of people are under 25. The median age is around 16–17 years old, driven by high fertility and low life expectancy.
- Chad is famous for its fierce warriors. The Tubu (meaning "rock people") survived and even thrived in some of the harshest parts of the Sahara for centuries.
