Fun Facts About Fiji
- Fiji is made up of 333 islands, with only about a third inhabited. It is dominated by two main islands where most of the population lives.
- Cannibalism was a significant, ritualistic part of traditional Fijian culture, particularly related to warfare and status. This largely ended after Fiji became a British colony in 1874.
- Fiji Water is actually from Fiji. It's sourced from a natural artesian aquifer on Fiji's largest island.
- Fiji is known as the "Soft Coral Capital of the World" due to its vast and vibrant reefs. Over 4,000 square miles of coral reef surrounds the islands, making it a premier global diving destination.
- "Bula!" is the quintessential Fijian greeting. It means "hello" and "welcome", and literally translates to "life" or "good health."
