- Halloween originated in Ireland from an ancient harvest festival. People lit bonfires and wore costumes to ward off spirits to mark the end of summer and the beginning of winter.
- Ireland has one of the world's highest concentrations of redheads, around 10% of the global population.
- Ireland is renowned for its vast number of castles and ruins. Some estimates suggest over 30,000, which gives it more per capita than almost anywhere else in the world.
