  • Kenya is a prime destination for seeing Africa's "Big Five" (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino). This term originated from dangerous big-game hunting, but is now celebrated in wildlife tourism.
  • Nairobi National Park is unique because it's just minutes from the city center. You can lions, rhinos and giraffes with skyscrapers as a backdrop.
  • Mount Kenya, the second-highest peak in Africa, has remnant glaciers despite being near the equator.
  • Kenyan athletes dominate distance running. Despite representing a tiny fraction of the global population, they have won dozens of Olympic medals.
  • The Great Rift Valley is a vast geological fault line running through Kenya. This geological feature is home to stunning lakes and volcanoes and is so massive that it's visible from space.
