Fun Facts About Kosovo
- Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. This makes it the youngest country in Europe, and the second-youngest in the world after South Sudan (2011).
- The flag of Kosovo features a blue field with a gold map and six white stars. These stars symbolize the main ethnic groups who live there: Albanians, Serbs, Turks, Gorani, Roma, and Bosniaks.
- Kosovo is home to stunning natural wonders like the Marble Cave. It has impressive marble formations like stalactites and stalagmites, as well as unique crystal structures.
- The name "Kosovo" comes from a Serbian term meaning "Field of Blackbirds."
- About 40% of Kosovo's land is covered in forests. It is rich with oak and pine trees, and makes for a fantastic destination for hikers.
