Fun Facts About Namibia
- Namibia has the world's largest population of free-roaming cheetahs. There are some 3,000 of these speedy cats calling the country home.
- Namibia is home to the Namib Desert, recognized as the world's oldest. It has experienced arid conditions for an estimated 55–80 million years.
- The Namib Desert has towering red dunes. One actually has a name — Big Daddy — which is nearly 1,000 feet high.
- Namibia has an incredible diversity of languages, around 30 in total. This includes unique click languages from the San people and other strange indigenous tongues.
- Tourists will find Namibia offers some of the world's clearest, and darkest, skies. This is due to minimal light pollution, dry climate, and remote desert landscapes.
