Fun Facts About Nigeria
- Nigeria's film industry, called Nollywood, is the second-largest in the world by volume (producing around 2,500 films annually). This is behind India's Bollywood, but ahead of Hollywood.
- The Walls of Benin was built centuries ago in what is now southern Nigeria. They were once the longest ancient earthworks in the world, spanning about 10,000 miles. That rivals the Great Wall of China when including all sections.
- Nigeria's national parks are a famed wildlife destination. They are famous for their hot springs where elephants and other animals bathe freely.
- Nigeria is sometimes called the "Giant of Africa" due to its massive population. It has over 237 million people (the most of any African country), a vast land area, and signifcant economic power.
- Nigeria has incredible butterfly diversity. There are over 1,000 documented species fluttering across its rich biodiversity hotspots.
