- Oman is home to the Empty Quarter, the world's largest uninterrupted sand desert. Its shifting sand dunes span across several countries.
- Oman has no personal income tax for citizens. It is one of only about a dozen countries where citizens keep their full wage.
- If you find yourself driving in Oman, make sure you don't honk the car's horn. Because this is heavily restricted by law and strongly discouraged by cultural norms. Needless to say, its city streets are quite peaceful and quiet.
- Archaeological evidence shows human habitation in Oman dating back for over 100,000 years — making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on Earth. The country is also the oldest independent Arab state, with a history of sovereignty dating back centuries.
