Word Search Puzzle 4
According to one authoritative source, there are 3.3 million family names in the world. This high number is reasonable when you consider there are 8 billion people who speak 7,100 different languages. Especially with spelling variations that arise due to record-keeping practices and the desire to be distinct. For instance, the name Gonzales has over 20 documented variations in spelling.
We thought it would be fun to make word search puzzles out of common last names. So we put together a list of 3,600 and got to work. On this page you'll find one of those puzzles.
This word search puzzle is themed. It hides 20 last names commonly found in the English-speaking world. Our personal favorite is LAWRENCE. But note that only 18 of these 20 names are actually listed. So you're on your own to find the 2 unlisted names. A full solution is provided if you get stuck.
By the way, we designed this puzzle to be easily read. Both the puzzle grid and word list are in large 17-point font size. And the puzzle grid, which is 22×20 letters, spans the entire width of the page. This way you won't have to squint.
The puzzle is printer-friendly — like all our free, downloadable puzzles. As long as your computer can open PDF files and your printer is loaded with standard 8.5" × 11" paper, you are all set to start solving.
