Dictionary Word Search 11

New Entries in Year 2001

This word search puzzle is themed. It hides 18 words or phrases which only first appeared in dictionaries in 2001. Our personal favorite is MELON BALL. But while these search terms are listed, there are 2 additional unlisted search terms for you to find. The solution is provided.

Here are three new entries with definitions and sample sentences. There are seventeen others in the puzzle. Are you familiar with them all?

CLICKABLE a digital object on a screen that can be selected with a mouse or other pointing device to trigger an action. Links, buttons, images and icons are all common clickable objects found on a website.

EMOTICON a sequence of letters, numbers, punctuation and other keyboard characters used in digital communication to convey emotion or to clarify meaning. The ubiquitous smiley face :) is arguably the most basic emoticon you can type.

MELON BALL a piece of soft fruit, like melon, that has been shaped into a ball by a spoon-like scooper. The guests on the hotel patio were served refreshing cocktails with honeydew and cantaloupe melon balls.

The puzzle grid is 22×20 letters and spans the entire page. It is printer-friendly. As long as your computer can open PDF files and your printer is loaded with standard 8.5" × 11" paper, you are all set to start solving.

Note: click the [direct link] below the embedded PDF file if you have trouble printing. The file should then directly download and open on your device. You can print it from there.
