New Entries in Year 2005

This word search puzzle is themed. It hides 18 words or phrases which only first appeared in dictionaries in 2005. Our personal favorite is WUSSY. But while these search terms are listed, there are 2 additional unlisted search terms for you to find. The solution is provided.

Here are three new entries with definitions and sample sentences. There are seventeen others in the puzzle. Are you familiar with them all?

PATTY-CAKE a classic clapping game in which two participants, such as a mother and her child, clap their hands together to the rhythm of a nursery rhyme. Mom and daughter would both giggle whenever they played patty-cake in the morning.

SNOW DAY a day on which a school or other institution is closed due to heavy snowfall, or whenever other extreme weather conditions make it impossible to keep it open. The children's screams of joy filled the kitchen when they heard on the radio that their school was closed for a snow day.

WUSSY someone who is weak, cowardly, ineffectual or overly sensitive. The boys on the playground called Johnny a wussy until he finally stood up for himself and fought back.

The puzzle grid is 22×20 letters and spans the entire page. It is printer-friendly. As long as your computer can open PDF files and your printer is loaded with standard 8.5" × 11" paper, you are all set to start solving.
