Here are three new entries with definitions and sample sentences. There are seventeen others in the puzzle. Are you familiar with them all?
● BABY MONITOR a radio system used to remotely listen to sounds made by an infant, consisting of a transmitter unit with a microphone and a receiver unit with a speaker. The couple bought a baby monitor for the nursery so they could hear if their newborn cried.
● POP TART a rectangular, pre-baked toaster breakfast food consisting of two thin layers of pastry with a sweet filling, such as fruit or chocolate, sandwiched between them and often topped with frosting or sprinkles. She was in such a rush this morning, she barely had time to warm up a pop tart in the toaster for her commute.
● POWER NAP a short period of sleep, typically under 30 minutes, designed to increase alertness and improve performance without causing a deep sleep which might result in grogginess upon awakening. The executive laid down on his office couch for a quick power nap before his 2:00 pm meeting with the state regulators.
