Here are three new entries with definitions and sample sentences. There are seventeen others in the puzzle. Are you familiar with them all?
● DRUG CARTEL a criminal organization of independent bosses or kingpins who collude to control the illegal drug trade, aiming to increase profits by dominating the supply and maintaining high prices. The people elected a new government to aggressively dismantle the drug cartel which seemingly controlled the entire country with an iron fist.
● WATERBOARDING a form of torture, typically used as an interrogation technique, where a person is strapped upside down on a sloping board while water is poured over their cloth-covered face, causing them to experience a sensation similar to drowning. Many human rights organizations across the world have condemned the use of waterboarding by intelligence agencies.
● ITALIAN ICE a dairy-free, water and sugar-based frozen dessert flavored with fruit, known for its smooth, light texture similar to sorbet. Before hitting the beach, the vacationing family treated themselves to Italian ice from a seaside vendor.
