Word Search Repeats
This is the first page of a massive collection of what we call word search repeats. Word search repeats — or repeating-letter word search puzzles — are a type of themed word search where all the words contain a similar sequence of letters.
For instance, a puzzle might be titled "Over Words" and words like BEDCOVER, INTROVERT, OVERTAX and PROVERB might appear in the search term list. But note how each of these words contain the same sequence of letters. In this case these letters are OVER, which is why the puzzle is called Over Words.
We thought it would be fun to think of words that often function as prefixes, suffixes, or otherwise appear in secondary words. These secondary words were then listed out and hid in traditional word search grids.
Incidently, that's what makes word search repeats so special. They doubly-hide words. First you hide a word in another word, then you take that second word and hide it in a grid of letters. Basically, you end up with sort of a two-for-one word search puzzle. In our opinion, that doubles the fun.
All told, we came up with 35 distinct prefixes and suffixes that are themselves whole words. These were then grouped together and hidden in over 8,000 search terms — or enough to make 400 unique word search puzzles! You'll find links to these puzzles across these 9 index pages.
Jump to a sequence:
ABLE • AGE • ANT • ARCH • ATE • AUTO • BAR • CAP • CENT • COUNTER • EXTRA • FIT • FORE • FORM • FUSE • GRAM • GRAPH • HERE • HOOD • LESS • MANIA • METER • MILL • OVER • OVER/UNDER • PATH • PHOTO • POST • SCOPE • SHIP • SPHERE • SUB • SUPER • UNDER • WARD • WISE
Note that each of the puzzles hides 20 search terms. But there's a twist. Only 18 of these 20 search terms are actually listed. So you're on your own to find the 2 unlisted ones. A full solution is provided if you get stuck.
By the way, we designed these puzzles to be easily read. Both the puzzle grids and word lists are in large 17-point font size. And the puzzle grids, which are 22×20 letters, spans the entire width of the page. This way you won't have to squint.
The puzzles are printer-friendly. As long as your device can open PDF files and your printer is loaded with standard 8.5" × 11" paper, you are all set to start solving. Good luck!
