• Colorado has the highest average elevation of any U.S. state (approximately 6,800 feet above sea level) earning it the nickname "The Mile High State." Fifty-eight mountains exceed 14,000 feet, with Mount Elbert being the highest at 14,433 feet.
• Exactly one mile above sea level is marked on the 15th step of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.
• Colorado's flag colors symbolize its landscape: blue for the sky, white for snow-capped mountains, red for the ruddy earth, and gold for sunshine.
  
• Mesa Verde National Park is renowned for its well-preserved ancient cliff dwellings built by the Ancestral Pueblo people over 700 years ago.
• Despite its snowy winters, Colorado enjoys abudant sunshine, with more than 300 days of sunshine per year. This climate makes the state a popular destination for outdoor activites like hiking, mountain biking and skiing.
